A Relieving Report from the GlobeRiders Team in Chile

When news broke of the recent earthquake in Chile, so soon after the still fresh in our minds tragedy in Haiti, we at Janson Media couldn't help but be concerned. We braced ourselves for an unfortunate outcome while hoping no individuals from our global network were affected, directly or indirectly. It turns out a crew from the GlobeRiders adventure team were in the midst of a run through Central and South America from the beginning of the year and were in fact staying in Santiago, Chile at the time of 8.8 magnitude quake. Today we're happy to pass on the news that the crew is safe and continuing on with its journey.

Although most phone, cellular and internet services were widely disrupted, Helge was able to call on his satellite phone to report that although it was a terrifying experience, the group is OK.Amidst the chaos, the GlobeRiders team managed to reclaim their belongings and headed south out of the city this morning, detouring around damaged roads and bridges along the way.Thanks to all of you who have sent email inquiring about their status and safety. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Chile and Haiti as they cope with the aftermath of these natural disasters.
