Hollywood Collection DVD Celebrates the Life of Grace Kelly on the Anniversary of Her Passing
27 years ago today, September 14, 1982, the fashion and film world lost one of its brightest stars, Grace Patricia Kelly. Although Kelly died before her time after being critically injured in a car accident with her daughter Stephanie and had a relatively brief career in film, she was still able to leave an iconic legacy behind. Kelly's star shone bright in such memorable films as Rear Window, To Catch a Thief,High Society, and The Country Girl, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress. Soon then after, she left the movie business and went on to live a life of royalty as 'Her Serene Highness The Princess of Monaco' becoming active in improving the arts institutions of Monaco, and eventually the Princess Grace Foundation was formed to support local artisans. Janson Media celebrates her dynamic life with the Hollywood Collection DVD title Grace Kelly: The American Princess.
Narrated by Richard Kiley, The Hollywood Collection DVD Grace Kelly: The American Princess tells the story of a girl who came from a wealthy and competitive Philadelphia family that left for New York City and worked hard as a model, stage actor and TV player. After being discovered by Hollywood, she was acknowledged as one of the movie industry's most sought after stars, an Academy-Award winner, playing opposite some of the greatest leading men of her time. Suddenly, like a modern-day fairy tale, Grace Kelly turned her back on it all — to become Her Serene Highness Princess Grace of Monaco. Now her story is told in home movies and clips from films like High Noon, Dial M For Murder, Rear Window, To Catch A Thief and High Society. Also seen, touching and revealing glimpses from the magnificent wedding to the tragic end. Actors Jimmy Stewart, Louis Jourdan, Alec Guinness, Katy Jurado, with directors, producers, friends and Grace"s sister, Lizanne, tell of the beautiful star who made the world her stage.
The Hollywood Collection is a rich archive of television documentary films, which profile many of Hollywood"s most beloved and respected stars. These films are the legacy of Gene Feldman (1921-2006), a director, writer, and producer. In partnership with his wife, Suzette Winter, their company Wombat Productions created 34 insightful and entertaining biographies for television broadcast. All of these programs were originally shot on both 35mm and 16mm film stocks and recorded on quarter-inch audiotape, as well as 35mm magnetic film. Now available on DVD, Janson Media maintains exclusive commercial rights to the entire collection.
