Janson Media Acquires Inecom Entertainment Film Library

Janson Media today announced its acquisition of the film library and related assets of Inecom Entertainment Company. The Pittsburgh-based movie studio had been in the business of financing and distributing independent films since its founding in 2001, having released 35 feature documentaries and instructional films, primarily for North American DVD release. Among the copyrights covered by the agreement are: -- the Cine Golden Eagle winner, Silent Wings - The American Glider Pilots of World War II narrated by Academy Award nominee Hal Holbrook; -- EXPO - Magic of the White City narrated by Gene Wilder; -- Worldfest Houston Special Jury Award winner Lincoln and Lee at Antietam; -- the Johnstown Flood narrated by Richard Dreyfuss; -- World War I - American Legacy narrated by David Carradine; -- Blood and Oil - The Middle East in World War I; -- the feature-length documentary Westinghouse, based on the life and times of America"s greatest industrialist. The agreement also includes distribution rights to additional films such as the Emmy award-winning documentary The Grange Fair - An American Tradition, the documentary Raise the Song: The History of Penn State, and the indie feature, Dr. Ravi & Mr. Hyde. Last summer, Inecom had retained filmmaker and media consultant Rob Child to find a buyer for the library. &'We knew Inecom Entertainment as a producer of big-budget, blue-chip documentary films,&' said Stephen Janson, president of Janson Media. &'When we learned that the entire library was on the block we commenced serious negotiations right away.&' &'The synergies were apparent with our own business model, especially our DVD releasing,&' explained Mr. Janson, &'but we saw opportunities to better monetize the library in such markets as international television and DVD licensing, as well as on emerging new media platforms.&' &'We were pleased when Rob Child advised us of Janson Media"s interest in buying the library,&' said Michael Bussler, founder and CEO of Inecom Entertainment. &'We were well aware of the company"s reputation as a respected home for top-shelf television documentaries, and their decades of experience in the business. We were pretty quickly convinced there was no one better who could keep our films in active distribution for many years to come, which was our primary goal for the sale of the library.&' 'Having already worked with Stephen Janson on distribution of several of my films, I knew Inecom"s film library would benefit greatly from Janson Media"s focus on the factual market and their international reach,&' said Mr. Child. &'It was the perfect match of high quality programs with top-notch distribution.&' ABOUT JANSON MEDIA Established in 1989, Janson Media is an independent content production and distribution company based in the USA, with a catalog of 1,500+ hours of exclusive programming available for licensing to worldwide television, VOD, DVD/video, non-theatric, and emerging new media markets.
