Janson Media Celebrates Black History Month With Underground Railroad DVD

At a time when the first appointment of an African-American to the highest office symbolizes the culmination of racial progress, even sparking the new term 'post racial,' Janson Media celebrates some other historical figures in America's history. For this very special Black History Month, we remember the 'Corridor of Courage,' an quintessential part of the Abolitionist Movement to end slavery pre-Civil War, as told in the DVD Whispers of Angels: A Story of the Underground Railroad. Defiant, brave and free, the great abolitionists Thomas Garrett, William Still and Harriet Tubman aka 'the black Joan of Arc,' along with hundreds of lesser known and nameless opponents of slavery, formed a Corridor of Courage stretching from Maryland's eastern shore through the length of Delaware to Philadelphia and beyond -- making the Underground Railroad a real route to freedom for enslaved Americans before the Civil War. The award winning Whispers of Angels (1 x 60) produced by Teleduction, Inc. blends long format interviews with dramatic reenactments of the valiant efforts of these brave humanitarians to create the Northeastern Corridor. Actors Edward Asner and Blair Underwood portray the two most prominent abolitionists on the eastern line of the Underground Railroad, Thomas Garrett and William Still, who along with Harriet Tubman were responsible for freeing over 3,000 slaves. For more information on these pioneers please visit their biographies on the Whispers of Angelswebsite. Coincidentally, February 12th also marks the birthday of President Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln is well known for successfully leading the country through its greatest internal crisis, the American Civil War, preserving the Union and ending slavery. Since 1976, Teleduction has produced and distributed critically-acclaimed programs to both broadcast and educational audiences.Teleduction titles range in content from issue-oriented public affairs programs and cultural/historical documentaries to narrative children's programming.
