Janson Media Sells "This Is Nowhere" to RTL-TVi

Janson Media announced today that it has licensed the film 'This is Nowhere' to Belgian Channel RTL, TVI. Produced by High Plains Films, the 57 minute film serves as an expose of RV travelers who navigate the country camping in Walmart parking lots. Nearly three million Americans live full-time in motor homes, campers and trailers. Millions more spend significant portions of each year wandering America in their homes on wheels. Taking advantage of the modern American landscape, tens of thousands of vacation and full-time travelers steer their Recreational Vehicles (RVs) into Wal-Mart parking lots each year to 'camp' for a night or two. 2001 Montana Individual Artist Fellowship winner, Doug Hawes-Davis, and co-director John Lilburn set out to document this emerging social phenomenon with the idea that this story was bigger than a few wayward tourists with curious tastes in camping spots. &'¨Judging from the reviews, they were right...
'Visionary.... fascinating, humane, terrifying, futuristic and very, very, very wry, you'll never go supermarket in quite the same way again.' - kinoKulture'This is Nowhere is a tragicomic portrait of an un-landed gentry in search of a mythical America that is fast giving way to the concrete realities of mass-market placelessness.' - Metropolis
When High Plains Films co-founders Doug Hawes-Davis and Drury Carr began making their first documentaries in 1992, they had no training in filmmaking, or the support of an established filmmaking community. With lots of passion and little resources, High Plains Films was able to create films that raise provocative questions about community values, liberty, consumerism, and the constantly evolving ideal of what the American Dream is all about. More than fifteen years later, High Plains Films has won more than 40 awards, been screened around the world and broadcast on nationwide television. The non-profit work of High Plains Films has been covered by dozens of national, regional, and local newspapers, journals, radio programs, and websites, including The New York Times, National Public Radio, USA Today, Mother Jones Magazine, High Country News, Salon.com, and E Magazine.
