Medallion Media of Japan Acquires DVD and Blu-Ray Rights to 'Chronos'

Janson Media announced today that it has licensed both the standard DVD and Blu-Ray rights to the award-winning Giant Screen Film Chronos to Tokyo-based entertainment label, Medallion Media. The Omnimax Grand Prize-winning Chronos, a hallmark in the canon of special venue films, is the first non-verbal, non-fiction motion picture shot entirely in time-lapse photography. Directed by filmmaker Ron Fricke, Chronos is presented as a visual symphony in seven movements, contrasting the worlds of natural beauty and man-made monuments, as it explores the essence of time. Chronos recounts the story of Western Civilization without uttering a single word. Fricke, whose film Koyaanisqatsi was a 1983 FILMMEX Audience Award Winner, developed a camera which has the capacity to shoot computer-precise, motion controlled time-lapse cinematography for Chronos, creating a revolutionary concept in the IMAX process. Through the influence of accelerating time, the camera follows the transition of human intelligence from the remnants of the Nile civilization to the high technology of North America and Europe.
