New Documentary on U.S. Army&'s 10th Mountain Division Now on DVD

Janson Media today announced the release of the DVD, The Last Ridge: The Uphill Battles of the 10th Mountain Division. This compelling new one-hour documentary, narrated by National Public Radio's Scott Simon, recounts the true 'mission impossible' of the U.S. Army's 10th Mountain Division during World War II. Their extraordinary efforts turned the tide for the Allies in Italy, revolutionized winter mountain warfare abroad, and transformed winter sports at home - blazing a path of honor for generations to come. The 10th Mountain story begins during backbreaking training. Soldiers lived outdoors in extreme cold for weeks at a time shouldering 40 kilo backpacks at altitudes over 4,000 meters. There were no tanks, no trucks, no jeeps. Just the men, their skis and whatever they could carry. The Last Ridge takes an active history approach to breakthrough to younger viewers, weaving together re-creations, eyewitness accounts, 3-D animation, and German archival footage and newly discovered letters. The Last Ridge brings the extraordinary 10th Mountain legacy to life, from the uphill battles they faced during World War II, to the remote corners of troubled Afghanistan where they patrol today, as the most deployed military division in the U.S. Army. Produced by 10th Mountain descendant Abbie Kealy, the program was filmed extensively in Colorado, Italy, Afghanistan and Yugoslavia, with insights from over one hundred 10th Mountain soldiers. The Last Ridge: TheUphill Battles of the 10th Mountain Division(1 x 60') was produced in 2007 and is now available to worldwide television, DVD, and new media markets exclusively through Janson Media.
