On Katrina Anniversary, Janson Media Series Raises Awareness of Natural Disasters
Four years ago on August 29, 2005, the United States Gulf Coast region fell victim to one of the largest national disasters in the country's history. Peaking at a Category 5, Hurricane Katrina swept along the coast from Florida to Texas, killing almost 2,000 people and leaving nearly 100 billion in damage. The storm caused the most damage to New Orleans - flooding nearly 80% of the city and in turn leaving thousands of residents displaced, some permanently. Recent events like Katrina have sparked interest and heightened caution about the likelihood of more natural catastrophes among Americans. The Janson Media series When Natures Strikes Back(7 x 50') explores this topic in depth.
When Nature Strikes Back is a series of documentary specials about natural disasters around the world, not only featuring new and spectacular footage, but also focusing on the incredible human interest stories behind these catastrophes. The series focuses on several disasters (Earthquakes, Monsoons, Floods, Landslides, etc.), their effects, and science"s help in prediction. Also included are clear explanations offered by scientists as to how these forces of nature operate.
When Nature Strikes Back (7 x 50') was produced by Langbein & Skalnik Media and Janson Media for National Geographic Channels International, and is available for all television, DVD, VOD, non-theatric, and new media markets worldwide exclusively through Janson Media.
