Popular 'Swallows & Amazons' Series Continues To Inspire Across Generations

The Swallows & Amazons series of classic children's books depict a sense of adventure still enjoyed by families over 80 years after the first story was published. Loosely based off incidents from the life of writer Arthur Ransome, the 12 books follow a cast of lively children with a love for sailing and and a respect for wildlife. The story came to life when it was later adapted for the small screen by BBC, produced on location on the lakes of England. Now available for all television, DVD, VOD, non-theatric, and new media markets worldwide exclusively through Janson Media, Coot Club and its companion story, The Big Six, are based on the celebrated Swallows & Amazons series. The titles provide a nostalgia for parents that remember watching the film when it originally aired, while still remaining relevant to their own children decades later. On his birthday, Ransome's timeless work continues to be honored by The Arthur Ransome Society, whose purpose is too celebrate the life, promote the works, and diffuse the ideas of the author.

In The Big Six(1 x 90') Joe, Bill and Pete are members of the &'Coot Club&' which aims to protect wildlife. They spend most of their time on the river in their little boat, the &'Death and Glory.&' Trouble starts when they are blamed for setting boats free from their moorings. Tom Dudgeon, the doctor"s son, and Dick and Dot, children who are staying with Mrs. Barrable, all become detectives and search for clues to lead them to the real culprit.

In Coot Club (1 x 90') Dick and Dot have to be taught the art of sailing, because they are spending their first holiday afloat with Mrs. Barrable. On hand is the doctor"s son, Tom, and a pair of twins that are such expert sailors they are nicknamed Port and Starboard. The adventure begins with the &'Hullabaloos,&' a party of noisy holidaymakers on the river who are damaging the riverbanks and wildlife. Tom is forced to free their boat from its mooring to save a coot"s nest. Then, Tom, Dick and Dot, joined later by the twins, sail south on a cruise. Will the Hullabaloos catch up with them?

The Arthur Ransome Society website is a resource about Ransome's life and works, including his famous Swallows and Amazons series of children's books. The site also provides regularly updated information about the Society, for use by both existing and prospective members. First established in June 1990, the Arthur Ransome Society Limited has its registered office at the Abbot Hall Museum of Lakeland Life in Kendal, England. It was chosen because the museum had an existing permanent exhibit - the Ransome Room - which houses many items of memorabilia donated to the museum by Arthur Ransome's widow, Evgenia. The organization is also in the process of developing a website dedicated to United States (TARSUS) and Canada members, set to launch soon.
