'The Story of Lassie' to be Syndicated to Public Television

Janson Media announced today that it has licensed the Hollywood Collection film The Story Of Lassie to American Public Television. The documentary, which tells the story of America's most beloved TV canine, will be syndicated to public broadcasting stations nationwide through APT beginning this November. For 50 years, she has represented all that is good about the enduring bonds between human beings and their dogs.She first leaped to stardom in the 1943 MGM film, Lassie Come Home. At a time when families, still stunned from the Depression, were then torn apart by World War II, the story of a dog who fights every obstacle to return hundreds of miles to her young master moved audiences to tears and established Lassie as an American icon. Lassie made seven MGM films. And when family films began to leave the big screen there were new horizons... first on radio and then on television. For more than 47 years, American Public Television (APT) has been a prime source of programming for the nation"s public television stations.With more than 10,000 hours of available programming, APT identifies innovative programs and creative distribution techniques for producers. Each year, APT distributes more than 300 series and specials in a variety of genres including documentary, cooking and lifestyle, travel, feature film packages, drama, music and entertainment.
