The Vatican Splendors Exhibit Arrives in Pittsburgh's Heinz History Center
For many art lovers the timeless masterpieces of paintings, sculptures and other works of art contained in the Vatican Museums is a right of passage. Those art lovers are in for a special treat this Fall/Winter when the 'Vatican Splendors: A Journey Through Faith and Art' Exhibit opens Saturday October 2nd at the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh, PA, a tour stop that lasts through January 9, 2011. A recreation of the sights and sounds of the Vatican Museum experience, The Vatican Splendors Exhibit will present nearly 200 unique items from the Vatican including: original works by Michelangelo, a reliquary containing the remains of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, a bronze Cast of the Hand of Pope John Paul II and much more. The collection is arranged in themed galleries that feature works of art and historically significant objects and artifacts that the Church has collected for thousands of years.
