Janson Media today announced the release of the documentary series Warriors of the Night (4 x 50&'²) to international Television, VOD, Nontheatrical, New Media, and DVD/Videogram markets excluding the UK and Canada. Produced by Nightfighters Productions, Warriors of the Night documents the tactical air battles fought between Germany and the Allies during World War II.
Once there was a war, a war like none other, a war cloaked in darkness, lit only by the flash of flares and searchlights, the explosions of bombs and the blaze of burning planes.. So begins this documentary television series about the deadly war fought in the nighttime skies over Europe during World War II. For the first time in history of human conflict, a war was fought by men and machines in the air at night. In Warriors of the Night, veterans from both sides recount the commonplace bravery and horror that they faced on a daily basis. he complex tactics that evolved and the race of competing technologies are related by graphic images and animation. The war had become not only a battle between the brave men of the Royal Air Force and the Army Air Corps and the Luftwaffe, but also a struggle of science and technology.
The introduction of primitive navigational and electronic aids ushered in a new era in the battle over the darkened European continent. Bomber Command introduced the bomber stream and the 1,000 bomber raid. The Luftwaffe response is re-created with an interception of a Lancaster bomber by a former German nightfighter.
The sternest test the nightfighters would face was attacking the most heavily defended place on earth, &'The Big City&' - Berlin. The balance of the electronic air war swung between the air forces of Germany and the Allies, culimating in a series of costly raids on Berlin in the winter of 1944-1945.
Included in this program is the story of the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, which is dedicated to the restoration and the preservation of Canada"s military aviation heritage. The aircraft of the Commonwealth Air Training Plan are being rebuilt and flown in their original condition.
