Janson Media today announced the release to international television and DVD markets of KENNY ROGERS: THE JOURNEY, an intimate and entertaining exploration of one of the greatest country music performers of our time. In a career spanning four decades, Rogers has recorded 61 albums and has sold more than 105 million units worldwide. His accolades include three Grammy Awards, eleven People"s Choice Awards, eighteen American Music Awards, eight Academy of Country Music Awards, and five Country Music Association Awards. Through both interviews and performances, THE JOURNEY tells the complete Kenny Rogers story - from his beginnings as a member of The New Christy Minstrels and The First Edition to his superstar status in the 70s and 80s all the way to his current chart toppers. &'I"m really excited about this DVD because it captures the essence of my entire career,&' says Rogers. &'My own personal journey has been a long one, and it was a real treat to go through the older footage and edit it around one of my current concerts. This classic footage includes duets with Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Sheena Easton, Kim Carnes, and Ray Charles. It is seamlessly mixed with 70s, 80s, 90s and present day concert footage. Some of these fantastic performances include: &'Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In),&' &'Ruby, Don"t Take Your Love To Town,&' &'Lucille,&' &'The Gambler,&' &'She Believes In Me,&' &'Lady,&' &'Islands In The Stream,&' &'We"ve Got Tonight,&' &'Buy Me A Rose,&' &'The Greatest,&' and Rogers" latest smash hit, &'I Can"t Unlove You.&' This classic concert footage is interwoven with interviews with Kenny Rogers himself, and with industry veterans who worked with him down through the years such as Lionel Richie, David Foster, Jim Mazza, Larry Butler, Mike Curb, Ken Kragen, Don Schlitz, Mickey Jones and Brent Maher. KENNY ROGERS: THE JOURNEY was produced by Jerry Samuels for Groovpix. Goldhil Entertainment will release the North American DVD on September 29, 2006. The program was written and directed by Kelly Junkermann, and edited by Bill Patterson and Keith Wolf. The director of photography was David Bridges. Both the one-hour television special and the DVD are now available exclusively from Janson Media for international television, VOD, IPTV, and DVD licensing.
