Wildlife Expert Jim Knox Featured by NY Times and Martha Stewart Live
Jim Knox, host of the Janson Media television series, Jim Knox's Wild Zoofari, appeared on the December 4th, 2007 episode of Martha Stewart Live, along with his special guests -- a pair of adult reindeer nicknamed 'Donner' and 'Blitzen.' Jim chatted with Martha about the animals, his work at Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo, and his new television series. Jim and his show were also profiled in the December 16, 2007 issue of the New York Times.Jim Knox's Wild Zoofari (13 x 30') is an original, live-action children"s wildlife conservation series filmed at zoos and aquariums across the country. A learning adventure for kids and a showcase for America"s premiere zoos, aquariums and wildlife refuges, Wild Zoofari is the only wildlife series to earn the formal endorsement of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Founded in 1924, the AZA is a pre-eminent conservation organization, whose zoo and aquarium member facility attendance exceeds 143 million visitors per year.
In its profile of Jim Knox, the New York Times said, 'In the 30-minute episodes, Mr. Knox takes a small group of children, ages 6 to 11, to meet animals at different zoos. They play with koalas, get close to colossal Komodo dragons, communicate with gorillas, feed fruit to moon bears, release a sea turtle back into the wild, pet a newborn giraffe and meet gigantic white rhinos and rain forest ocelots for the first time.'
Jim Knox's Wild Zoofari is airing on PBS stations across the country, and is presented by Rhode Island Public Television. Janson Media has also licensed the series internationally to the Discovery Channel Italy, as well as to broadcast clients in Russia and Indonesia.
