Surprise Amazon Video Hit Series “Midtown" Returns For Season 2

The Crazy Cops are Back!

Baker and Malloy’s quirks go up a notch…one memorable scene where Malloy overreacts when he feels he accidentally ingested gluten, and another where Baker continually confuses the words “organic” with “orgasmic.”

But the cops remain perfect examples that there ARE good cops in this world, especially with all the racial tensions going on. Their ignorance is reflected in positive ways: Malloy to Baker: “You’re calling me racist? You’re the one who said you love Korean Women because they are the hottest of all the Chinese!” Baker’s reply: “They are the hottest!”

Last year, when Midtown first was released, Season 1 was a truly no budget production. Started as a web series for fun, Malloy and Baker had hopes, but didn’t know if it would catch on. But, low rent aside, people saw the comedy, which attracted distributor Janson Media. The “vignettes” of comedy were seen together with NYC b-roll to create six episodes of a 22 minute comedy. And soon, the straightforward, “Make Em’ Laugh” approach made MIDTOWN into one of the most popular downloads on Amazon video.

The new format, much cleaner and higher production value (due to the success of the first season), is that every episode is 10 minutes an under…perhaps to accommodate the short attention spans of the new generation. But make no mistake, the comedy still plays. The bickering, the banter, the arguments. It’s not high brow, but it is high laughs. You’ll be smiling through every episode, laughing out loud at many, and crying laughing for a few. Season 2 is better in every way. Check out Midtown on Amazon and be ready to binge watch!

Availability on Amazon Video

With the help of Janson Media, “Midtown” has been made available on Amazon Prime Video. Members of Amazon Prime SVOD will be able to enjoy the series online or with the Amazon Video app, which is available on mobile devices, TVs and more. You can also download the series to your mobile device for offline viewing.

The straight-to-streaming release of “Midtown” is exciting because it represents part of a new trend in the distribution of TV series. A rising number of popular shows and movies are becoming available exclusively on streaming platforms, and according to Nielsen, 40 percent of American households subscribe to at least one streaming service. The sources for entertainment are clearly shifting, which is drawing viewers to streaming in record numbers.
