Air Force Thunderbirds Take High Flying Act to Dover Air Force Base

Dover Air Force Base recently announced that it will open its gates to the public on June 20-21 for the 2009 Dover Air Force Base Open House and Air Show. Among the exciting high flying acts scheduled to appear are the Air Force Thunderbirds. The Thunderbird Air Show has been dazzling audiences for decades with its synchronized aerial acrobatics and is a must see for all fighter plane enthusiasts. For Thunderbirds fans yearning for a closer look at the awe inspiring demonstration, there is the Janson Media DVD America"s Team: Being a U.S. Air Force Thunderbird. America"s Team documents all the exciting details of the Air Force Thunderbird"s air show for a full season. Viewers get a chance to see what it takes to create the awe-inspiring demonstrations seen by millions of people around the world. Rarely seen moments include a &'patching ceremony&' where an enlisted person becomes a member of the team after weeks of study, and the loading and unloading of tons of equipment as the team goes from location to location. Dover Air Force Base is located in the 'First State,' and the center of the Delmarva -- Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia -- Peninsula. Dover AFB is home to the 436th Airlift Wing, known as the 'Eagle Wing' and the 512th Airlift Wing, our Air Force Reserve associate--referred to as the 'Liberty Wing.' Together, these two wings make up the 'Dover Team.' Dover AFB operates the largest and busiest air freight terminal in the Department of Defense and is also home to the Air Mobility Command Museum, which welcomes thousands of visitors each year. The Charles C. Carson Center for Mortuary Affairs is the DOD's largest joint-service mortuary facility and the only one located in the continental United States.
