DVD Assesses Da Vinci Code Phenomenon from Vatican Perspective

Janson Media today announced the worldwide release of the DVD, The Da Vinci Code: The Church Responds. Change does not come quickly or easily to an institution as old as the Roman Catholic Church. Even when it is under attack by the secular and anti-religious forces of our age, the Church responds in a measured and judicious way. A great institution must not rush to react to the ever-shifting sands of modernity. Indeed that is one of the Church's enduring strengths -- and thus it stands the test of time. The recent religious controversy sparked by Dan Brown's bestseller The Da Vinci Code, is a case in point. Finally, four years after its publication, and a year after the release of the Hollywood movie based on it, this DVD presents some of the Church's reactions in the form of two documentary films and several short reports produced by ROMEreports. The DVD investigates many of the questions raised by The Da Vinci Code. Did Leonardo Da Vinci use his art to reveal secrets about the Holy Grail? Were Jesus & Mary Magdalene lovers? Is Opus Dei a secret organization with assassins as members? Is Christianity the biggest cover-up in history? Dan Brown may think so, but one billion Catholics would beg to differ. In this DVD, Vatican officials, historians, theologians and experts in art history and Church history discuss the 'Da Vinci Code phenomenon' that swept through popular culture like a storm. Yet the storm has subsided, and the Church stands strong. The Da Vinci Code: The Church Responds was produced by ROMEreports, and is now available exclusively worldwide from the Janson Media DVD Catalog. The DVD includes the documentary films, The Da Vinci Code: A Masterful Deception and The Da Vinci Files and three short reports The Vatican vs. The Code, The Mystery of Saint Sulpice, and Dan Brown, A Nobody in Vinci. The Da Vinci Code: The Church Responds DVD MSRP: $24.95 Catalog #20337 ISBN# 1-56839-237-0 UPC# 6-4603203379-3 Pre-book Date: June 18, 2007 Street Date: June 26, 2007
