'Global Focus' Racks Up Another Award at EcoVision Film Festival

Janson Media's documentary series Global Focus: The New Environmentalists received a special jury award at the recent EcoVision Film Festival in Palermo, Sicily. This fifth edition of the International Festival of Environment and Cinema took place in Palermo, Italy on June 3rd-9th. Created to highlight documentaries and films that are dedicated to preserving both our society and the environment, EcoVision is the only event of its kind in Europe. The award is the latest in an impressive list of wins for Global Focus, which already boasts a Goldman Environment Prize, a Mion Environmental Film Award and more.

In Global Focus, producers traveled worldwide to capture the triumphs and challenges of environmental heroes who have stood up to government, corporations and other adversaries. Their common goals are safeguarding the Earth"s natural resources from shortsighted exploitation and the long term effects of pollution, and fighting for environmental justice in their communities. These &'New Environmentalists&' employ a formidable array of weapons to wage their battles. Picket signs, solar panels, legal briefs, garden hoes, spirituality, pop songs, dance and sheer determination are among their many resources. The series of 5 half-hour films is now available to international Television, VOD, DVD/Video, Non-Theatrical, and New Media markets, exclusively through Janson Media. For this years EcoVision Film Festival, almost 1,000 films produced between 2007 and 2009 from 70 countries around the world were reviewed. They were submitted for decision to a jury consisting of critics, national and international cultural aid workers and chaired by one of Italians most important journalists, Tonino Pinto. Judged based on educational value and production quality, the winners are awarded cash prizes offered by Fondazione Banco di Sicilia.
