Janson Media to Source Content for New Korean Channel WiseTV

Janson Media today announced an exclusive content sourcing agreement with Korean production company Korea Cinetel. The American distribution and content management company will manage acquisitions for the Korean producer's new WiseTV Channel. WiseTV, is a new High-Definition cable/satellite channel in Korea, focused on entertainment for women, with a schedule of lifestyle, food, fashion and health and wellness and exercise content. Janson Media will handle acquisitions exclusively for the channel's rollout from 2 hours daily to six hours daily, set for November of this year. Janson Media will acquire between 60 and 80 hours of HD content for WiseTV, primarily in the categories of women's lifestyle, health and wellness, fashion and beauty, and exercise content. 'We have had a great partnership with Janson Media for several years and we know them to have the key relationships and the access to content we need to help us reach our goals of rapidly building the WiseTV brand,' said Korea Cinetel CEO, Mr. Han-Jin Kil. 'We view this as a unique opportunity to leverage our relationships with content suppliers and distributors around the world in a way that can help Korea Cinetel make WiseTV a real success story,' said Stephen Janson of Janson Media. 'We will primarily target English-language content from North America, the UK and Australia, which will be subtitled in Korean.' Since WiseTV is an all-HD channel, all content must be filmed in HD, and content delivery will be file-based rather than on videotape. Korea Cinetel is a Seoul-based production company that supplies quality documentary programing to the Korean national broadcast network, KBS. Known for quality programming, it recently received the 'Best Independent Production Company' award from KBS. The company is currently producing 'Children of the World,' a 26-episode documentary series filmed in HD which focuses on how children in different parts of the world find ways to overcome obstacles in search of their dreams. Korea Cinetel has also expanded its production slate to include entertainment, and its show, 'Kitchen Dream' airs on Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation's cable channel MBC.
