"Adventure on the Nile" Expedition Doc Complements IMAX Film

Janson Media today announced the release of ADVENTURE ON THE NILE, a one-hour documentary produced to complement the IMAX film, &'Mystery of the Nile.&' Intended for television and DVD markets, ADVENTURE ON THE NILE was filmed during the same 2004 expedition with additional video cameras. The Nile River is one of the last unexplored rivers on earth. More than 35 years after the last failed attempt to descend the entire length of the Blue Nile, two adventurers have traveled to Ethiopia to take on the great challenge: geophysicist Pasquale Scaturro, a whitewater expert and the expedition leader, and Gordon Brown, an extreme kayaker and professional cameraman. Cinematographer Michel L"Huillier would document the expedition. The goal of the expedition was to attempt the descent of the entire Blue Nile, from its source on the Ethiopian highlands, across Sudan and Khartoum where it meets the White Nile to become the great Nile, and finally to arrive at Alexandria and the Mediterranean Sea in Egypt, more than 5000 kilometers away. Dangers lurked along ever bend in the great river. In Ethiopia the crew was attacked not only by crocodiles, but by Shiftas — the local bandits. The crew encountered gigantic rapids which had claimed the lives of many adventurers before them. They survived high desert temperatures, sand storms, waves, huge falls, conflicts with local tribes and governments, malaria, and more than forty days completely cut off from any trace of civilization. ADVENTURE ON THE NILE was produced by Orbita Max and is now available exclusively from Janson Media for worldwide television, DVD, and VOD licensing.
