Socially Conscious HD Series a Refreshing New Direction for Reality

Janson Media today announced the release to international television markets of the human-interest reality show, JOURNEYS OF THE HEART: PERU. The socially-conscious High Definition series — which is poised to make its U.S. debut in early 2006 as part of of Echostar"s VOOM package — consists of nine episodes and follows the emotional quest of eight ordinary people who travel to Cusco, Peru, to help better the lives of a group of deaf and mute orphans. Set in a stunning and exotic backdrop, JOURNEYS OF THE HEART: PERU features a riveting storyline. With a delicate balance of laughter, tears and inspiration, the end-result is an unforgettable life-changing journey captured in stunning HDTV — and a positive direction for reality television. To make it all possible, production company Concrete Pictures partnered with Globe Aware, a non-profit organization that specializes in what it calls &'adventures in service,&' volunteer tourism with a focus on cultural awareness and sustainability. While Globe Aware tapped its international resources for the perfect location, Concrete Pictures located its volunteers — eight North American citizens whose compelling essays, unique personalities, and underlying compassion earned them roles in the project. Among the volunteers were a marketing manager from San Francisco, a special education teacher from Ontario, Canada and a mother-and-son pair from California. &'What these people did was amazing and heart-felt,&' said Drew Fleming, the series" Creator and Executive Producer. &'This is our first venture into the genre of reality TV,&' said Stephen Janson of Janson Media. &'This is the real thing, not a "reality" series with contestants and survivors and contrived situations, targeted to the lowest common denominator, but a new kind of reality TV that is engaging, thought-provoking, and enlightening.&' JOURNEYS OF THE HEART: PERU (9 x 60') is now available to international television markets exclusively from Janson Media.
