Godspeed, Paul

Janson Media pays tribute to legendary actor Paul Newman who died Friday, September 26th, at the age of 83, at his Westport, Connecticut home. Obituaries described Newman as an actor, director, race car driver, political activist and philanthropist. For broadcasters and media companies seeking ways to memorialize Newman in the weeks ahead, Janson Media makes available the documentary film, The Making of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the classic Western about the lives of two of America"s most famous outlaws. Featuring off-camera commentary by Paul Newman, this documentary also provides a fascinating historical look at location filmmaking in the late 1960s, just as the old studio system was rapidly fading away.

Long before the production of 'Making of...' documentaries became ubiquitous during film shooting, intended to be used later as 'DVD Extras,' Director George Roy Hill and writer William Goldman had the foresight to film The Making of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, one of the most iconic films of the modern era. Some of the experiences of bringing the film to life, both good and bad, are revealed in the rare behind-the-scenes footage of this classic movie.

The Making of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid(1 x 43&'²) was produced in 1970. As the result of a recently-signed, exclusive long-term distribution agreement between Janson Media and the Yale University Film Archives, the film is now available to worldwide television, VOD, and New Media markets.
